Highland Kismet (Father Patrick) captured the $225,000 Goodtimes for sophomore trotting males in commanding fashion on Saturday (Jun. 15) at Woodbine Mohawk Park in his first Grand Circuit final harness racing start.
He was gapped off at the start, but Bob McClure revved the colt’s engine and pushed him forward into the four-hole. He didn’t sit for long, pulling out after the quarter in :27.2 to take over and lead to the half in :55.3.
The first challenge came from Private Access (Louis-Philippe Roy), who popped the pocket coming around the turn and pressed the leader to three-quarters in 1:24.4. It was little trouble for Highland Kismet, though, who brushed him off and powered clear down the lane, cruising to a dominating victory under wraps in 1:51.3.
Private Access held second with Top Mast (Sylvain Filion) completing the ticket. The performance equaled the stakes record.
