Crushing win to break maiden

After 11 losses to start his harness racing career, Hp Run Detector (Alarm Detector) bottomed out the field to break his maiden on Wednesday (Jun. 26) at Grand River Raceway.

The gelding rolled to the front for Brett MacDonald with little resistance and enjoyed an easy lead as horses broke behind him. He hit the quarter in :29.3 up two-and-a-half, added another pair to the half in :59.4, and took flight to three-quarters, leading by 10 lengths at the pole in 1:30.1. He jogged to victory from there, crossing the line with 11-and-a-quarter lengths in his back pocket in 2:00.2.

The victory came as Hp Run Detector’s dropped from the Woodbine Mohawk Park ranks, which landed him as the 4/5 chalk. Benoit Baillargeon trains Claude Hamel’s homebred that has now earned $13,450 in 12 appearances.

Friday, Jun. 28 is the next race date for Grand River Raceway.
