“Everyone is just over the moon,” said Mataura harness racing trainer Lyndon Bond after Del’s Creation (Creation) won at Winton today (Jun. 29).
The five year old mare is owned by Lyndon, his wife Aimee, Haig McGorlick, Tony Stratford, Jen Sheridan, Cliff Woods and breeder Ian Hunter.
“That’s what it all about. People that love horses and getting to the winner’s circle.”
In today’s Subway Winton Winter Rewards Handicap Trot, Del’s Creation got back with Majesdix leading. At the top of the straight Majesdix opened up a sizable break and driver Blair Orange had to bring Del’s Creation four wide. Inside the last 50 metres the big black mare gave plenty, getting up to win by a neck from Our Pinocchio with a further half a length back to Majesdix.
DEL’S CREATION REPLAY
“Blair said when he asked her to fight she just dug in.”
Initially trained by Nathan Williamson, Del’s Creation has been with Bond since April 2023. She’s now won five races for the stable in eight starts and the last three have been in a row.
“Port Pegasus (half-brother) went to the pool at Wyndham with Craig Ferguson’s. Ian had another horse sitting in the paddock at home (Del’s Creation). Nathan didn’t want her back because she had no strength as a three year old. She’d been out in the paddock for a year and has got stronger and stronger. With his family, the older they get the better they get.”
With no racing in the south for four weeks Bond is looking at heading to Addington on the 19th.
“She doesn’t stop amazing us. We might have a couple of weeks off after that and get ready for Cup Week.”
Bond is confident that Del’s Creation can go to the highest grade in the trotting ranks.
“I think she can go all the way. I think time’s been her friend.”
