HAMBURG, N.Y. — Chapvious (Devious Man-Chaperess) has already tasted victory in the New York Sire Stakes for the 2-year-old filly trotters and she hopes to experience that delectable feeling once again as she leads the full field of eight in the $108,200 harness racing event at Buffalo Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (July 3).
Scheduled for the seventh race, Chapvious collected her maiden victory in her first asking by scoring a neck decision in the $74,500 NYSS at Yonkers Raceway. She wore down Royal Mission in the stretch and notched the neck score in 1:58 on June 25.
Owned by the Purple Haze Stables of nearby Fairport, N.Y., Chapvious is trained by George Ducharme and will be driven by Jason Bartlett from the five post.
On The Radio (Chapter Seven-Kathy Parker) drew the inside post for trainer Annie Stoebe. She finished eight lengths behind Chapvious in her loneĀ startĀ at Yonkers but hopes the better draw will narrow the gap.
Smoke Show (Credit Winner-Ryan’s Bad Girl) registered a neck victory in the $20,000 Excelsior Series at Yonkers in 2:02.0. Trained by Julie Miller, Smoke Show is scheduled to startĀ from the six post.
Others in the field include Sister Lo (Mark MacDonald), DW’s Lady Diva (Kevin Cummings), Devious Babe, Sister Mary Mavis (Bruce Euto) and R Maddie.
There will be a pair of $20,000 races in the Excelsior Series for the young ladies along with the Class A-Open Handicap Pace for the fillies and mares.
There are 11 races slated with the first post on Wednesday set for 2:30 p.m. There’s a $861 carryover in the Pick 5 which begins in the second race.
