Welcome into our Speed in the Breed article. A look into the successful families represented at the trials and workouts.
If you look into the sales catalogue or those that find fame out on the track in the features races youāre likely to find that many of the champions of today come from great families of the past. Here we touch on that habit of success- how the great families continue to leave the very best.
Rangiora trials are set to be run on 3rd of July, among those to catch the eye when it comes to breeding are-
A Girl Named Vinnie (Vincent– Rosanna Jaccka) This McRae trained filly takes her place in the 2ndĀ on the card and will look to continue her racing journey after a 2ndĀ last week in Chertsey workouts. Dam Rosanna Jaccka won 3 times from limited starts and has since left the impressive A Boy Named Rosie (Badlands Hanover), an 18-time winner, and Supriya (Changeover)Ā a Listed Classic winner in 2016 when victorious in the Menangle Country Series Final.
Captainess (Captain Crunch – Time To Dream) A interestingly bred filly out of the H Cullen barn. Captainess will look to impress as a daughter of Captain Crunch. The breeding is all there too, Time To Dream was unraced but is a full sister to race winners Bunterās Dream and Iamthedream. Western Cullen, winner of the Gr1 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes, and the NZ Yearling Sales Series 2YO Open Final of the same year, is also a 1/2 sibling. Itās a family of class performers and connections will hope Captainess is capable of adding to its history of winning in times to come.
Yearling Sales Success runs in the family of Captainess.
Major Cyclone (Father Patrick – Cyclone Emily) Weather warning. Again out of the Hayden Cullen stables, this 3yr-old gelding has plenty of upside to him when you look through the family tree. Dam Cyclone Emily won 2 of her 11 race day appearances and counts the 4-time winner Cyclone Chief as a close relation. Further back in the damline youāll find the mother of Cyclone U Bolt, and Cyclone Dream in Cyclone Vance (Safely Kept)
