SC presents NDC Drivers Showcase live event

Follow the 2024 National Driving Championship (NDC) through Standardbred Canada’s channels this week!

The harness racing event kicks off with the NDC Driver Showcase live event, which will be streamed on the Standardbred Canada website and Facebook page, starting at 8:30 p.m. (EDT), on Thursday, July 4.

Held in Trois-Rivières, Que., the NDC Driver Showcase will feature exclusive interviews by host Mark McKelvie with all nine NDC competitors: Tyler Borth (Ontario), Stephane Brosseau (Quebec/Eastern Ontario), Redmond Doucet (Atlantic Canada), David Dowling (Atlantic Canada), Phil Giesbrecht (Western Canada), Mike Hennessy (Western Canada), James MacDonald (Ontario) and Robert Shepherd (Quebec/Eastern Ontario).

“It’s always an honour to be a part of a major racing event and it’s especially exciting to be part of one that covers all of Canada like the NDC,” said McKelvie.

“This will be my first visit to Trois-Rivières and I’m very excited to see the racetrack and meet the passionate racing fans in Quebec,” added McKelvie. “I think the NDC will be a thrilling competition from start to finish. There is a lot on the line, and it’ll be a heated day of racing. I like that all parts of our country will be rooting for their favourite. We’ve got great fans and participants all across the country and I really hope they enjoy the show.”

The NDC Driver Showcase live preview show will be followed by the 2024 NDC main event at Hippodrome 3R on Friday, July 5, which will also be streamed live on the Standardbred Canada website. First post time is 4 p.m. (EDT).

The NDC will be contested over nine races during Friday’s harness racing card at Hippodrome 3R. The winner of the NDC will represent Canada at the 2025 World Driving Championship in New Zealand.

Friday’s live NDC broadcast will also feature a number of special guests, including Standardbred Canada’s President and CEO, Darryl Kaplan, and SC Board members, as well as driver interviews with host Jean Laroche.
