Horse Racing New Brunswick will host its second live harness racing card at Connell Park which includes the New Brunswick Breeders stakes for three-year-old pacers.
In the first leg of the colt division House Edge Hanover and catch-driver Mark Haig will drive the promising Betting Line colt. He took a new lifetime mark last week in 1:55.4 for trainer Ron Matheson.
House Edge Hanover is owned by Everette Hanson of Maugerville, New Brunswick. He was a $ 10,000 yearling purchase at Harrisburg in 2022.
In the filly division, Littlesticious, a Bettors Delight filly, owned by Jenn Ritchie who has been set as the 9/5 favorite by race secretary Brent Briggs. This leg will feature a $15,000 purse.
Littlesticious was gets Todd Trites in the bike and was a winner this past Monday at the Woodstock track in 2:03.4. Wayne Watson trains the speedy filly.
In the second colt New Brunswick Breeders stakes, Resuscitate (Stonebridge Terror) has been listed as the morning line favorite. He was a winner for Trites in his last start at Connell Park in 1:57.2 a new record for the youngster.
Both colt divisions for the first leg in 2024 go for $ 8000 each, with the lone filly division for a purse of 15,000.
On a side note, a number of Quebec horsemen and women are shipping in for Saturday’s card including top driver Pascal Berube. With added horses from the other provinces in the Maritimes the card has attracted some excellent overnight events.
