Standardbred Canada (SC) and the Central Ontario Standardbred Association (COSA) made a special presentation to Anellino (Nello) Guglielmi as the national representative for the 2024 World Amateur Driving Championship debuted the Canadian harness racing driving colours following the third race at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, July 12.
Donning the red and white driving suit and helmet sponsored by COSA, Guglielmi was recognized as Canada’s representative with the presentation of a travel gift. The presentation was made by Darryl Kaplan, President and CEO of SC, and Bill OāDonnell, President of COSA.
“Standardbred Canada wishes Nello the very best of luck in Finland representing Canada in the World Amateur Driving Championship,ā said Kaplan. āIt is exciting to see the growth of amateur driving around the world and will be great to watch Nello compete in a global competition
wearing the Canadian colours.”
GuglielmiĀ has won 41 races and finished in the top three 190 times over the course of his 20-season career. The Melancthon, Ont. horseman’s passion for harness racing extends beyond the racetrack; he is dedicated to giving back to the racing community by volunteering with programs like “Wanna Ride.”
The World Amateur Driving Championship races will take place in Finland on Monday, Aug. 19, Tuesday, Aug. 20 and Thursday, Aug. 22, with the ceremony banquet to follow on Thursday, Aug. 22.
