Daisy Corvette steps up to victory

Daisy Corvette (Mystician) returned to the Fillies and Mares Preferred harness racing level at Century Downs on Friday (Jul. 12) and won her second straight race.

The mare got an ideal trip from Mike Hennessy, following Outlaw Sharktastic (Nathan Sobey) from the pocket through :27.4, :56.3, and 1:24.4 splits. Daisy Corvette found her way out at the top of the stretch and rolled past Outlaw Sharktastic to win by a length in 1:54. If Only Id Know (Phil Giesbrecht) finished third.

DAISY CORVETTE REPLAY

Daisy Corvette, trained by Shanisty Andres, has now won 16 races and earned $149,732 in 54 lifetime starts. Tammy Murschell of Medicine Hat owns the six-year-old, who is three-for-12 this year.

Also on the card, Outlaw Spiced Rum (Blue Burner) won her sixth straight race. She went all the way again for Hennessy in a 1:55.2 victory. The Travis Ellis trainee has won 13 of 20 appearances in 2024 for owners Trevor Williams and Aurel Vodon. The six-year-old Outlaw Spiced Rum is 23-for-70 with $124,025 in career earnings.

OUTLAW SPICED RUM REPLAY

Century Downs returns on Saturday, Jul. 13 at 12:45 p.m. MDT with a 12-race card featuring the Alberta Sires Stakes Maverick and Marquis finals. Shark Week will make his first after a four-month break in the Preferred.
