Outstanding filly Water Lou (Sweet Lou) bounced back from an atrial fibrillation when she outclassed her harness racing rivals in the $35,000 Alabar Daintys Daughter Country Classic at Pinjarra.
The Mike Reed trained three-year- oldās nine consecutive wins were punctuated by a ādown the trackā finish at Gloucester Park when she was subsequently pulled up as the $1.05 favorite after suffering an atrial fibrillation.
Reed said there was cause for concern early the following morning.
āI checked her around 5 oāclock the next morning and it was still bouncing around and she hadnāt touched her food or water, so I called the vet but by the time he arrived it had automatically gone back on its own,ā Reed said.
āShe had five days off and then worked for four or five days and then she was good in her trial,ā he said.
WATER LOU REPLAY
Reed said Water Lou will be aimed at the Gr3 $50,000 Daintys Daughter Classic and the Gr2 $100,000 Westbred Classic at Gloucester Park in September.
The Gr1 WA Oaks in October completes the trio of feature races on the agenda for Water Lou.
Reed is quietly confident his filly is the horse to beat in the targeted 3YO fillies classics.
āI think she is the best three-year-old filly and wouldnāt swap her for any other,ā he said.
Water Lou is compiling an imposing record winning 18 of her 23 starts and has banked almost $350,000 in prizemoney.
Reed is eagerly anticipating the return to the race track of the untapped Lion Queen whose career of two wins from three starts has been halted by a tendon injury she sustained in the paddock in February last year.
āShe is a filly with a lot of ability and we are looking forward to getting her back to the trials this Sunday,ā he said.
