Steve Telfer talks about his FNL team

Team Telfer races fourteen horses spread across two harness racing venues tonight.

Ten take their place for Friday Night Lights in Auckland while four will line up at Addington.

Steve and Amanda Telfer’s night starts at Addington in Race One with The Highwayman (Fear The Dragon). The two year old has had three starts and still has to find a solid pacing gait.

Miki Bennett (Always B Miki) went poorly at his last start and was found to have had a slight heart elevation. He gets a nice draw in Race Three at Addington.

The Telfer’s night in Auckland gets started in Race Two with two three year olds, Carbon (Bettor’s Delight) and Upstage (Sweet Lou).

Carbon draws the inside of the second row and will need some luck.

Upstage also has a second row draw in a capacity field. He’s been well drilled at trials and workouts, leading and winning his last workout at Pukekohe fifteen days ago.

In Race Five at Addington Obsession (Captaintreacherous) has good track and distance stats. She last won in June 2023 but she’s getting dangerously low in the ratings.

Their Addington night finishes with debutante Treasure Cove (Captaintreacherous) in Race Six. He was sighted finishing off his last trial at Rangiora well.

In Race Four at Alexandra Park Team Telfer has three starters – Semba (Captaintreacherous), Slots (Sweet Lou) and Secrets Abound (Sweet Lou).

Semba is a one race winner and at his first start back after a break, ran home well for fifth. He gets an outside front row draw to play with.

Slots has been good at his last two starts. He draws two on the second row.

Secrets Abound last raced at Manawatu in February. He’s been to two workouts this month for a second and a win.

Steve and Amanda have two runners in Race Seven at Auckland – Medina Magic (Downbytheseaside) and Cyren Shard (Vincent).

Medina Magic has won two of his twenty starts and her formline suggests he’ll need to lift to be a player.

Cyren Shard’s form has been very good and her last start fourth was solid enough.

The Stonewall Stud colours will be worn by three runners in the last race at Alexandra Park.

Turn O The Tide (Captaintreacherous) was nabbed late on debut and should be improved with the run.

Debrief (Captaintreacherous) was a solid fourth in the same race.

Always B Magic (Always B Miki) draws the widest of the Telfer trio at barrier five.
