Late rally wins Gr. I Hugo Abergs Memorial

The 3.41/1 odds favorite Borups Victory (6m Googoo Gaagaa-Borups Julia-Naglo) rallied past his harness racing rivals today (July 30) to capture the Hugo Abergs Memorial STL Gold at Jagersro, Sweden (Gr. I International, purse to winner 138,374€, 1609 meters autostart).

Daniel Wajersten reined and trains this winner for Stall Droad AB, his fifth 2024 win in eight starts and 16th for his career in 35 appearances. His earnings now in SEK are 9,544,565.

Finishing second was 68.9/1 outsider Get A Wish (6m Wishing Stone-Amanda Vang-Lindy Lane) driven by trainer Johan Untersteiner. Third was 9.9/1 Click Bait (8m Cantab Hall-Fun At Parties-Lindy Lane) with Per Lennartsson aboard for Stefan Melander.

Race time in this event was a sharp 1.09.0kr, the mile 1:51.02. Vivid Wise As made a brief miscue from post one, caught the field, and then fell far back appearing lame behind.

On the Jagersro undercard there were two Breeders Course events for three-year-olds, each with 43,000€ to the winner and each raced over 1640 meters autostart.

The colt division went to 1.12.2kr timed and 4.4/1 odds Far Wise As (3m Face Time Bourbon-Temple Blue Chip-Cantab Hall) as this half-brother to Vivid Wise As was piloted Johan Untersteiner for conditioner Jerry Riordan and owners B Racing/Andersen Racing.

Far Wise As won for third time this year in five starts and now sports four wins in eight lifetime starts. The 4.1/1 Fendenkrais Pal (3m Trixton-Tuscanic Pal-Nad Al Sheba) was second with Robin Bakker driving for Paul J.P. Hagoort. First Of Wind (3m Face Time Bourbon-Peace Of Mind-Uronomentro) took third at 40.1/1 for trainer/driver Alessandro Gocciadoro.

In the filly Breeders Course three-year-old division the 1.10.7kr timed winner was 12.8/1 Olivia Bros (3f Muscle Mass-Glayua Bros-Cantab Hall) reined by Bjorn Goop for owner/trainer Mattias Djuse. This one secured her second career victory in 16 starts. Kilimanjaro Face (3f Googoo Gaagaa-Valentina Wind-Muscle Hill) was a game second on the pegs for Adrian Kolgjini at 3.6/1. Finishing third was 13.3/1 Unica SLM (3f Googoo Gaagaa-Una Blessed-Varenne) with trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro driving the Girolamo Casella property/

Also on the program was the Prix Cagnes sur Mer (purse to winner 17,200€, 1640 meters autostart, four-year-olds) with victory here to 2.2/1 odds Devilish Hill (4g Muscle Hill-Devilish Delight-Father Patrick) timed in 1.11.5kr. Magnus Telen Gundersen teamed this one for Geir Vegard Gundersen to his second win this year in four tries.

Crown (4m Chapter Seven-Amour Heiress-Cantab Hall) was second for Orjan Kihlstrom and trainer Daniel Reden at 8.5/1 odds. This colt won the SWE Sprintermastern Final on July 13 at Halmstad that was his only win this year. SRF Stable owns this Order By Stable product. Third today was 66.3/1 outsider Kong du Dalm (4m Feeling Cash-Cevennes-Look de Star) with Bjorn Steine driving for Henry Rorgemoen.
