11-1 upset at Cabourg; Auctav Yearling Sale complete

The Prix de Lisieux (purse 29,000€, 2750 meters, 16 starters ages 4-6 females) highlighted the Cabourg card this day (Aug. 23) with victory narrowly to 11/1 Jalousie Maza (5f Charly du Noyer-Aventure-Goetmals Wood-Rapide Aventure) reined by Sebastien Ernault for Ecurie du Maza and trainer Ilona Klappe.

This was the winner’s seventh career victory in 17 appearances.  The 7/1 Jacinthe des Ulmes (5f Overtrixk-Semeuse des Ulmes) was second for David Thomain teaming the P.E. Trible trainee that Trible owns. Katouchka (4f Follow You-Tender Night-Lets Go Along) was off the 2.4/1 odds favorite and finished third with Yoann Lebourgeois the pilot for owner/trainer Etienne Dubois.

The season’s first significant France yearling sale took place on August 22, the Auctav Vente de Yearling Trotteurs Selectionnes 2024.

Louis Baudron is the leading figure in this sales venue, and he was a buyer as well. There were 113 yearlings catalogued and 54 sold after nine outs (104 lots presented) for an average price of 28,037€. The sale toppers were:

• Lot 82 Neptune Pierji (male, Ready Cash-Femilia Pierji) that Espace Trot/Christophe Bridault purchased for 220,000€

  

  

• Lot 78 Not This Time (male, Ready Cash-Famous Lady) went to Trotting Bloodstock for 210,000€
• Hip 14 Nice Speed (male, Carat Williams-Prudence du Ham) went to F.P. Bossuet for 95,000€
• Hip 41 Northwood (male, Fabulous Wood-Bodeguita) brought 61,000€ to Maurizio Grosso
• Hip 57 Nagoya de Lou (female, Face Time Bourbon-Diana du Chatelet) brought 61,000€ to Miodrag Pantic, trainer for Nicola Jokic. The Pantic/Jokic team also bought two others, Nabrosco Dieschrot (male, Etonnant-Me For You) and Noble Ecus (male, Italiano Vero-Boca Ecus) these for 9,500€ and 26,000€ respectively.\
