Down Under Winners from North America – 27th August

Majorca, a New Zealand bred daughter of Art Major, notched her fifth harness racing success for the season when she won the $22,500 Mares’ Free-for-all in 1:53.4 at Harrington Raceway on Monday (August 19).

A pair of ex Kiwi’s, Turn The Page and Swedish Starlet, quinellaed the $25,000 Fillies and Mares’ Open Handicap at Plainridge Park on Tuesday (August 20). She clocked 1:50.8 in winning for the fifth time from eight tries this season. 

The Betterthancheddar gelding The Beauden Blues NZ posted his first success on North American soil when he won the $15,000 co-feature in 1:51.4 at Pocono Downs on Tuesday. 

No less than five ANZAC bred pacers recorded sub 1:50 miles in North America this week including two newcomers in Hemsworth NZ 1:48.6 (by Sweet Lou) and Vintage Cheddar NZ 1:50 (by Betterthancheddar). 

The others were Pat McGarry 1:48.6 (by Million Dollar Cam), Awaywego 1:49.2 (by Sunshine Beach) and Let It Ride NZ 1:49.2 (by Rock N Roll Heaven).
