Woodbine Mohawk Park held a celebration of life for late Hall of Fame harness racing trainer Bob McIntosh and a remembrance race for him on Tuesday evening (Aug. 27).

The third race was in honour of McIntosh, who passed away on Jul. 28. Louie The Great (Dancin Lou), driven by Tyler Borth, slid out third-over on the final turn and exploded in the final 1/16th of a mile to get up for a 1:55.2 victory by a neck. It was the freshman’s second lifetime with for trainer Jared Bako. A group of McIntosh’s family and friends gathered in the winner’s circle.

BOB MCINTOSH REMEMBRANCE RACE REPLAY

McIntosh was one of Canada’s most accomplished trainers with seven Trainer of the Year Awards. His horses earned more than $100 million, and he trained stars such as Artsplace, Whenuwishuponastar, and Camluck. He is in both the Canadian and United States Halls of Fame.

There was an accident in the eighth race at Mohawk in which Beach Games fell after a break. He was the only horse involved in the incident and walked off the track. He was reported to be okay by the track veterinarian. Driver Bob McClure was also unharmed.

Racing will resume at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7:10 p.m. EDT.
