Do It is certainly one to blackbook

Tayla Fellows believes her harness racing gelding Do It (Always B Miki) has a lot of prospective talent ahead of his appearance in the second heat of the Art Major Vicbred Super Series for three-year-old colts and geldings at Kilmore on Thursday.

The pacer out of Angel Or Demon is preparing for his second career start after finishing fifth in his debut performance at Shepparton on July 23.

“We think he is a really nice horse,” Fellows said. “He has had one run for us where we thought he was a bit flat, so he is only going to get better.

“He had a spell at Monique at Rita Burnett’s place and he came back looking an absolute treat. He is a really lovely horse and he is really sweet.”

The pacer has drawn 11 for the $10,000 event with Jack Laugher set to drive.

“He hasn’t drawn great, but you have to be in it to win it,” she said. “It is a tough race and when you look at the field, you forget the horses in it are three-year-olds because they have done so much,” she said.

The bay gelding has been honing his craft at the trials.

“The trails we have given him, he just puts in a funny one off the gate. Even if we had to use his gate speed, we wouldn’t be. I think he will get better with more maturity and experience,” Fellows, from Junortoun, said.

“Jack (Laugher) knows the horse, he has driven him at the trials and he drove him at the races for that one start. He is an excellent driver and he will figure it out.”

The second heat for the three-year-old colts and geldings is set to go at 6.07pm.

Qualifiers from the Vicbred Super Series heats move through to semi-finals on September 7 before Group 1 showdowns on September 14 at Melton Entertainment Park.
