Down Under Winners from North America – 3rd September

Torrid Saint, a Victorian bred son of Shadow Play, earned a new speed badge of 1:50.2 when he led throughout in the $25,000 Open Handicap at Plainridge Park on Tuesday (August 27). It was his 23rd lifetime success and pushed his harness racing earnings over the $450,000 plateau.

The American Ideal gelding Carabao, who was bred by Perth enthusiast Bryan Cousins, became the latest Australian pacer to enter the 1:50 list in North America when he clocked a sharp 1:48.4 winning the $17,000 featured pace at Pocono Downs on Tuesday. He has now won four of his last six starts. 

Another ex-Western Australian, Infinite Symbol (by Indomitable Saab), led and held off a slew of challengers to capture the $11,500 feature in 1:52.4 at The Meadows on Wednesday (August 28). She has now earned $288,192. 

Chimichurri, a New Zealand bred son of Bettor’s Delight, hoisted a fresh lifetime mark of 1:50.2 when he led from wire-to-wire from the outside No. 8 gate win the $24,000 feature at The Meadowlands on Saturday night (August 31). He now has 14 wins from 40 career starts and earnings of $US146,187. 

Meanwhile, Shoobee Doo (by Shoobee’s Place) led and maintained a solid tempo throughout before winning by untested by 6-3/4 lengths in 1:49.4 in a $12,000 race at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday (September 1). The gelding boasts more than $520,000 in stake earnings.
