Gias Surreal (So Surreal), who became a harness racing millionaire earlier this season, captured the first Fillies and Mares Preferred of the meet at Flamboro Downs on Thursday (Sep. 5).

Gias Surreal in prior win

The mare pushed past Betternotmachme (Travis Cullen) to secure the front as she reached the quarters in :28.1. Tyler Moore rated her to a half in :58.1 but accelerated to three-quarters in 1:26.3 to deal with the first-over challenge of Jm Betonsix (Anthony Haughan). Those two battled around the turn and into the stretch, with Betternotmachme making her charge at the pylons, but Gias Surreal held them both off by a half-length for the victory in 1:55. Jm Betonsix got up for place over Betternotmachme.

GIAS SURREAL REPLAY

Gias Surreal is now 38-for-167 lifetime  with $1,040,955 in earnings. Donald Lindsey trains the mare for owners James Graham of Hamburg, Ed Peron of Syracuse, and Lee Winters of Medina.

The opening night handle at Flamboro was $155,474. The track will host racing on a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-Sunday schedule for the rest of the month before switching the Tuesdays for Wednesdays in October. Its next card is set for Saturday, Sep. 7 with a first post of 6:35 p.m. EDT.
