Welcome in to our Speed in the breed article. A look into the successful families represented at the trials and workouts.
If you look in the sales catalogue or those that find fame out on the track in the feature races youāre likely to find that many of the champions of today come from great families of the past. Here we touch on that habit of success – how the great families continue to leave the very best.
A look into the trials and workouts to take place at Ashburton on the 10th of September sees plenty of interesting bloodlines presented, among those to catch the eye and carry interest would include.
Nila Maree (Art Major – Kacie Cullen) A breed thatās performed well in the past, this G Payne trained filly won a learners workout on the 20th of August so may look to further that winning feeling tomorrow when lining up in the 5th of the day. Dam Kacie Cullen won a solitary race but counts Gr2 Horsham Pacing Cup winner Buster Brady (Real Desire) as a close relation. The damline flows backwards to Brave Lave (Lumber Dream), mother herself to the impressive Nutwood (Neroās B B) a Gr2 placed performer who narrowly missed taking a feature title from Sam Malone in Flying Mile action at Cambridge in the late 1990ās.
Nila Maree shows a nice sprint in winning on the 20th of August
Rosary (Father Patrick – Lough Beg) The Tomlinson stable is never too far away from finding the next nice trotter and this daughter of Father Patrick has all the breeding to suggest she might be the next prospect out of the barn. Rosary is out of Lough Beg, a winner of 5 who has been excelled in her role as a mother, her progeny includes 5 individual winners with Beg Hall (Angus Hall) and Majestic Chevron (Majestic Son) both winning 4.
Recent winner Torquay Street (Father Patrick) is also part of the wider family.
Rosary impresses in a recent learners workout at Methven.
Stunna (Gold Ace – Bagdarin) The Stunna with some stunning relatives. Margo Nyhan presents this mare in the 11th on the card and itās one that immediately catches the eye due to the damline. Bagdarin is the mother of the wonderful Shartin (Tintin In America) the celebrated multi-millionaire pacer who swept all North American rivals aside in some of the biggest feature races on their racing calendar, her brief Australian racing career including wins at Gr2 and Gr3 level too. Done Rockn, a 2-time winner and Knockawarwon, a 5-time victor, are also out of the mare.
While Stunna certainly has a lot to live up to thereās cause for some confidence around the abilities of this daughter of Gold Ace.
