Seven straight for Moon Kid Photo

Looking to keep his six straight harness racing winning streak intact, Moon Kid Photo (Karpathian Kid) competed in race three at What Cheer on Sunday (9/8).  With Mark Mintun in the bike, Moon Kid Photo had the three hole, racing against three-year-old Iowa Registered pacing colts/geldings.

As the Karpathian Kid gelding lined up for the start, Moon Kid Photo quickly shot out to take the lead, with Spiritofanoutlaw (Corey Larson) sitting on his back.  Confident on the front, Moon Kid Photo set the pace, reaching the quarter in 29.3.  Still feeling pressure from the pocket, Moon Kid Photo didn’t let up steam, pacing to the half in 58.2.

With rocket fuel in the tank, Moon Kid Photo pulled away from the field, passing the three-quarters in 1:27 flat.  Up by four lengths as he hit the lane, Moon Kid Photo was in full command, cruising towards the wire.  Not needing to rely on the photo finish, it was all Moon Kid Photo capturing his seventh consecutive win in a blistering 1:57.1, the eleventh win in his sophomore season.

Iowa harness racing resumes for a two day event at Humboldt, Saturday (9/14) and Sunday (9/15).  Post time for both days is scheduled for 12:30pm CST.
