Cheese Party (Betterthancheddar) fought to her fourth straight harness racing victory in the first Prospect Series division of leg five for three-year-old pacing fillies on Wednesday (Sep. 11) at Grand River Raceway.

Austin Sorrie got her away fifth from the rail but sent her first-over after the quarter in :27 as Fancy Lettering (Louis-Philippe Roy) consolidated control of the lead. Cheese Party pulled level after the half in :55.3, and the two battled all-out through three-quarters in 1:24 until she took over at the top of the stretch. Fancy Lettering had nothing left, and Cheese Party coasted home to win by a length in 1:53.4. Tamara Hanover (Todd Ratchford) circled the rest of the field for third.

CHEESE PARTY REPLAY

Cheese Party has won all of her past four starts, including two legs of the Prospect Series. Her sole win at two came as a 50-1 upset in the Battle of the Belles. The filly, owned and trained by Kyle Bossence, is six-for-17 lifetime with $127,055 in career earnings.

Definingthe Moment (Control The Moment) took the second split for Roy, leading all the way in her first B-track appearance. She was challenged by Distant Lover (Austin Sorrie) from the half to the final turn but finally dispatched coming down the stretch and streaked clear to a three-and-a-quarter-length win. Ontop Rainstorm (Mike Whelan) got up late for second over Distant Lover.

The winner has won three of her 21 career starts for trainer Roger Mayotte, who co-owns her with Ben Mudry, Louis Liebenau, and Larry Curtis.

DEFININGTHE MOMENT REPLAY

In the final division, Quiet Assurances (Bruce Richardson) made two moves to the front, fended off the first-over Saulsbrook Annie (Roy), and gutted it out to the finish to win by a length in 1:55.4. Saulsbrook Annie was a hard-fought second. Stilton Gold (Jason Ryan) finished third.

Quiet Assurances is six-for-31 lifetime and has earned $55,822. Rene Dion trains the homebred for Howard Taylor and Falcon Racing.

QUIET ASSURANCES REPLAY

The Prospect Series finals are set for  Sep. 27 at Grand River Raceway.

Racing will resume at Grand River Raceway on Friday, Sep. 13 with a 10-dash card featuring four Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions.
