Lookinlikeamillion (Armbro Baylor) made it back-to-back stakes scores with an impressive harness racing performance in the Golden Boy second leg at The Loop on Saturday (Sep. 14).
Away fourth of five in a :29.4 opening quarter, Richard Remillard put him in gear as the field banked into the second turn. Lookinlikeamillion reached wheel of leader Cartoon Kid (Marc Fillion) at the half in 1:00 and trekked overland onto the backstretch but began to falter at three-quarters in 1:30. Cartoon Kid held his lead into the stretch, but the tough Lookinlikeamillion re-rallied and rolled by him to win by three-quarters-of-a-length in 2:00.2. Tough Crowd (Don Howlett) was best of the rest.
LOOKINLIKEAMILLION REPLAY
Lookinlikeamillion is now four-for-nine on the season with wins in both Golden Boy legs and the Futurity Stake. He took a new mark in Saturdayās win, knocking three-fifths off his effort last week. Tara Isman trains the sophomore and co-owns him with Dr. Valerie Isman and Garett Isman. The gelding has won six of 13 career starts and has earned $32,274 in earnings.
Also on the card, Grit N Grace (Im The Pied Piper) repeated in the Silk Lace with a second-leg victory. The filly cut the mile for Dean Rey, cutting fractions of :29.2, 1:00.3, and 1:31. Choozetocruise (Howlett) closed in the stretch, but no one presented a serious threat to Grit N Grace, who marched to the line to win by a length-and-three-quarters in 2:00.3.
Choozetocruise finished second with Chasin Rainbows (Remillard) third.
GRIT N GRACE REPLAY
Grit N Grace had not won since the first leg of the series. She gave a disappointing performance a week ago in the Futurity but is having a solid debut three-year-old season with five victories and $24,614 in nine appearances. Lorraine Rey owns, trains, and bred the filly.
Dean Rey and Howlett tied for top driving honours on the day with three tallies apiece. All of Reyās wins came behind horses sent out by Lorraine Rey, who recorded a training triple.
Racing will resume at The Loop on Saturday, Sep. 21.
