Elite New South Wales harness racing trainer Jason Grimson will field a strong team for Friday night’s Group 2 Jet Roofing Kilmore Pacing Cup.
The 31-year-old will prepare Major Moth (Art Major) and District Attorney (Courage Under Fire) for the $75,000 event.
“They are pretty good,” Grimson said. “I gave them a hit-out on Saturday and they both worked well, so I am pretty happy with them.”
Both Major Moth and District Attorney will use the Kilmore Cup as a final hit-out before heading straight to the $300,000 Sportsbet Victoria Cup on October 12.
“They probably won’t race until the Victoria Cup after the Kilmore Cup,” Grimson said. ”This is just a hit-and-run mission this week.
“This is just a lead-up for them…”
NSW reinsmen Jack Callaghan (District Attorney) and Cameron Hart (Major Moth) will drive for Grimson, with the horses drawing barriers four and six respectively.
“They will go forward at the start and find a position. I will leave it up to the drivers – they know what they are doing,” he said.
Last year’s champion, the Jess Tubbs-prepared Better Eclipse, has gate seven for the 2690m feature with Greg Sugars set to pilot.
Veteran pacer Bulletproof Boy has drawn one for trainer-driver Scott Ewen.
The Group 2 Jet Roofing Kilmore Pacing Cup is set to go at 8.33pm.
