Gendreen (8g Boccador de Simm-Miss Gendrenne) at 40/1 odds held gamely to secure the harness racing victory in the Gr. III International Grand Prix Anjou Maine (purse 100,000€, 2875 meters distance handicap, 16 starters ages 5-11) at Meslay du Maine in France today (Oct. 2).
Rival 1.4/1 Ino du Lupin misqued late in the lane when leading and was a dq. The winner timed in 1.11.6kr now has 18 wins in 81 starts for 530,860€ earned for owner Philippe Grumetz. Mathieu Mottier was the winning pilot for trainer L.C. Abrivard.
Finishing second was 6/1 odds Inexess Bleu (6g Vittel de Brevol) driven by Alexandre Abrivard for L.C. Abrivard training for Michel Gallier. Hohneck (7m Royal Dream-Caranca) was third at 11/1 odds and a 25-meter handicap driven by Gabriele Gelormini for trainer/owner Philippe Allaire.
The 4.3/1 Hymne du Gers (7g Bold Eagle) was fourth for driver/trainer Jean Michel Bazire while 65/1 odds and 25-meter handicapped Hokkaido Jiel (7m Brillantissime) landed fifth money. Harlen du Bucy and Gu d’Heripre finished sixth and seventh.
