Harness racing driver Doug McNair put the cherry on top of a six-win evening as he steered Silver Label (Bettors Delight) to victory in the $36,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday (Oct. 11).

Silver Label cruising to victory in the Fillies and Mares Preferred

The mare traveled fourth through the opening half, tracking the pylons through :27.1 and :55.4 fractions. Doug McNair summoned her to the outside on the final turn, and she rode Dabarndawgswatchin’s (Jody Jamieson) cover through three-quarters in 1:23.1. Silver Label came off the helmet at the top of the lane and rocketed to the front, soaring clear for a two-length victory in 1:50.2. Tells On A Roll (Travis Cullen) rolled to a place finish. Dabarndawgswatchin was third.

SILVER LABEL REPLAY

Silver Label is now four-for-14 on the season with on-the-board finishes in four stakes events. Nick Gallucci trains the mare for Millar Farms of Stouffville. The five-year-old has now won 24 times and has earned $1,616,421 in 55 career starts.

The rest of McNair’s wins came in succession from races three through seven. The reinsman won with Stovid (1:58), a two-year-old Wheeling N Dealin filly, Kellina Diamond (Betterthancheddar, 1:52.2), Tea Party Hanover (Stay Hungry, 1:52.4), Fasnacht Hanover (Stay Hungry, 1:51.2), and How Much (All Bets Off, 1:51.2). He has won 234 of his 1,264 starts this season with more than $6 million in earnings.

Woodbine Mohawk Park’s next card is Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final night, featuring eight $300,000 championship races. First post on Saturday, Oct. 12 is set for 7:10 p.m. EDT.
