Outlaw Allie Oops (Blue Burner) became the fastest mare ever at The Loop with a record-breaking performance in the final race of the Manitoba harness racing season on Saturday (Oct. 12).

The mare did it all herself with Michel Rey aboard, leaving the field behind after setting :28.4 and :59.1 first-half fractions. She flew through three-quarters in 1:28.4 while opening up a seven-length lead, and she motored home to romp in 1:58 with a 10-length margin. Treasure Horizon (Darryl Mason) was best of the rest, followed by Chazmichaelmichael (Richard Remillard).

OUTLAW ALLIE OOPS REPLAY

The winning time knocked two fifths off the previous record for an aged mare, set by I Will Do It last year. Outlaw Allie Oops also tied the overall record, which was initially taken by P L Jackson.

Outlaw Allie Oops is two-for-two since moving to Manitoba and the Trevor Williams barn. Williams owns the mare and shares ownership with Timothy Gordon of Spruce Grove. The eight-year-old is 28-for-115 lifetime with $156,624 in earnings.

Earlier in the card, Aime Hanover (Betting Line) equaled his own track record for an aged pacing gelding.

The six-year-old gelding, seeking three straight wins, took the lead and set strong fractions of :29.1, :58.2, and 1:28.1 for driver Mason. Armycaptin Hanover (Rey), one of Manitoba’s top free-for-allers, trudged along first-up but was several lengths back on the final turn. Aime Hanover took an open-length lead into the stretch, and he held the gaining Armycaptin Hanover at bay to win in 1:58.1. Appoggiatura (Clayton Braybrook) completed the triactor.

AIME HANOVER REPLAY

Aime Hanover is undefeated in three starts since returning to the province after spending 10 months in the United States. Sherri Mason conditions the six-year-old and co-owns him with Darryl Mason. The six-year-old has now won 13 times and has earned $124,790 in 119 lifetime appearances.

Don Howlett took the driving crown as he closed out the meet with two winners, bringing his season tally to 22. Rey finished second with 18. Matt Howlett completed the family sweep, taking the training title with 20 wins on the season. Richard Rey added two on closing day to finish second with 17.
