With temperatures nearing winter levels, the Autumn Series for two- and three-year-old Ontario-sired harness racing colts and geldings began on Tuesday (Oct. 14) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Peloton Seelster (Shadow Play) spent no time amongst the pack, wiring his opponents to take the sole division of the opening round. The rookie colt, a maiden entering the race, dashed to the front for Paul Mackenzie and cut :28.4, :59.4, and 1:29 fractions.
The first-up Harborlite Jimmie (Austin Sorrie) threw in the towel going into the final turn, and Peloton Seelster fended off Convoy Twenty Two (Daryl Thiessen) and Mcseashore (Anthony Haughan) by a length-and-a-quarter to win in 1:59.2.
Convoy Twenty Two got up for second in the final meters. Mcseashore finished third.
PELOTON SEELSTER REPLAY
Peloton Seelster hit the board for the first time in Tuesdayās win after a pair of heavy defeats to begin his career at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Dr. Ian Moore trains the colt for Peloton Seelster Stable of Cambridge.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District is set to host its next card on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 5:50 p.m. EDT.
