Welcome in to our Speed in the breed article. A look into the successful families represented at the trials and workouts.
If you look in the sales catalogue or those that find fame out on the track in the feature races youāre likely to find that many of the champions of today come from great families of the past. Here we touch on that habit of success – how the great families continue to leave the very best.
The trials and workouts taking place at Rangiora on the 17th of October include a number of great bloodlines present. Some that may catch the eye both tomorrow and in times to come could include –
Gimme Three Steps (Majestic Son – Free Bird) Barry Ward is always in possession of a nice type or two and this son of Majestic Son could well be the next useful sort out on the track. Gimme Three Steps to due to step out in heat 1 of the day after going around in a learners heat at Motukarara last week. Dam Free Bird won 5 from 60 with the current maiden Call Me The Breeze her first foal. Grandam Timeās On My Side was a very good mare, winning 10 from her 60 race day appearances.
Gimme Three Steps is one to watch out of the Ward stable.
Polly Grey (Captain Crunch – World Boss) A House trained runner with some strong bloodlines attached. This juvenile filly, by Captain Crunch, is the first foal out of the American Ideal mare in World Boss, her mother in turn being the very good Angela Jane, winner of the Queen Of Hearts of 2002 when beating out Swift Mirage and Hot Shoe Shuffle. The family is known for the exploits of Steve McQueen, who acted the part with some of the best in his age group in the early 2000ās and Uptown Attitude, mother to the 5-time winner in Angel Of Montana.
Polly Grey appears in the 2nd of the day
Significant Katch (Art Major – Katchalight) The Bob Butt stable is having its fair share of success lately with some notable efforts coming from Princess Meritaten and The Lazarus Effect recently – and that winning trend could rub off on this son of Art Major. The 2yr-old is the first foal out of Katchalight (Bettorās Delight) the winner of two herself while grandam Katchafillie won 6 times and placed on a further 14 occasions. The damline is notable further back for the presence of the name Robin Dundee – a super mare and one of the very best of her time.
Significant Katch could be the next significant winner out of the B Butt stables.
