Trainer Jodie and driver Travis Cullen teamed up for a trio of harness racing victories on the Wednesday (Oct. 16) card at Flamboro Downs, adding to seasons for both.
They kicked off the card as they sent Singing With Jimmy (Big Jim) out to a maiden-breaking victory. The rookie colt, winless in 10 previous tries, circled to the lead before the quarter, battled with Theymakeusbetter (Scott Coulter) from five-eighths, and held him off by a head to win in 2:00.2. The colt is a homebred for Keith Hannah and Jodie, Travis, and Ron Cullen.
SINGING WITH JIMMY REPLAY
The Cullens returned to the winnerās circle in race four with Military Man (Heston Blue Chip), who went wire-to-wire in 1:57.3. It was the five-year-old stallionās eighth win of the season and second start for the barn. He was claimed by Denis Audet in the victory.
MILITARY MAN REPLAY
Granite Beach (Sunshine Beach) completed the Team Cullen hat trick in another front-end performance. The four-year-old cut the mile and came home a winner in a lifetime-best 1:55.4. He is six-for-17 with $23,799 in earnings since debuting this year. Jodie Cullen has trained him to two wins in three outings since taking over as trainer earlier this month.
GRANITE BEACH REPLAY
Jodie Cullen, Travisās mother, is clicking at a rate of 22 per cent this season and passed $2 million in earnings for the third straight year with the nightās wins. Travis Cullen is 238-for-1,456, a 16.3 per cent win rate.
