Brilliant speedster Captain’s Knock (Captaintreacherous) served notice that he is racing in rare form when he displaying an outstanding speed performance to take out the First semi Final of the NSW Breeders Challenge for harness racing four year olds.

Starting at just over bank interest odds Captain’s Knock surrendered the lead early to noted speedster Montalbano who was only looking for a cover. Brad Hewitt then took Captain’s Knock back to the lead and from then on he led his rivals a merry dance clearing away on the final bend.

Even though he ran his first quarter in 27.5 he was still able to run his final quarter in 26.8 to record an astonishing mile rate of 1.49.7.

Mick Danger who had the run of the race on the rails three back finished best of the chasers to take second ahead of El Camino.

Captain’s Knock who is now closing in on a half million dollars in stake money has already taken out the two and three year old divisions of the Breeders Challenge.

In this preparation Captain’s Knock had struggled to regain top form but he was not disgraced when finishing 7th in the Eureka racing along the rails for the trip. But winning the Les Chant Free For All a week later showed that the stallion was returning to his best form and it appears that Brad Hewitt has tuned him perfectly for him to have a serious crack at the $150,000 Final next Saturday night.

And if he dominates the pace as he did last night he sure looks the testing material.

ack to the lead and from then on he led his rivals a merry dance clearing away on the final bend.
