Harness racing driver Travis Henry added another strong night to his solid season as he took five victories on Monday (Oct. 21) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

Henry, second in the track’s drivers’ standings, kicked off the card with a win behind Jd Beauty (The Bank). The filly pulled first-up on the backstretch and rolled to the front for a two-and-a-quarter-length victory in 2:02.1. It was the filly’s first start in Ontario for trainer Gerard Demers since shipping in from Quebec this month.

The reinsman then made it a natural hat trick as he scooped races two and three. The second was a wire-to-wire win with Ima Doll (Control The Moment, 1:56.2).

The third was a come-from-behind effort as Spin For Life (Royalty For Life), who broke in the second quarter and trailed by more than 15 lengths, circled the field to win by three lengths. The sophomore gelding passed every opponent on the outside, drawing away down the stretch to win in 2:04.2.

Henry then won on the front end with Blossom Onthebeach (Sunshine Beach) in the sixth, crossing the line a two-length winner in 1:58.4. He completed the five-win night as Twin B Showmance (Tactical Landing) advanced from third on the backstretch and charged to a length-and-a-quarter victory in 2:00.2.

Henry is winning at a 17.7 per cent rate this season with 310 tallies in 1,755 starts. He has now earned more than $2 million in three consecutive years and is within range of a personal best season in wins, needing 28 more.

Racing continues at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 5:50 p.m. EDT. The program will feature the Autumn Series second leg for two- and three-year-old Ontario-sired colts and geldings.
