Stash The Cookies (Sunfire Blue Chip) powered to an open-length harness racing victory in the $25,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred on Friday (Oct. 25) at Century Mile.

The mare was out-sprinted into the first turn, but Dave Kelly quickly pulled the trigger to send her back to the front before the quarter in :27.3. She led through the half in :55.4 and came under fire from Outlawabovenbeyond (Mike Hennessey) approaching three-quarters in 1:24.1. Stash The Cookies shrugged her off down the stretch and got away from the rest, soaring home to a three-and-a-quarter-length score in 1:52.2. Outlaw Sharktastic (Nathan Sobey) was best of the rest, followed by Red N Ready (Brandon Campbell).

STASH THE COOKIES REPLAY

Stash The Cookies is eight-for-12 this season and has made every start at the top overnight level for trainer John Chappell. She has earned $391,859 and won 38 of her 112 career starts. Derek Gilbert of Brandon owns the eight-year-old.

Also on the card, Pull The Trigger (Vertical Horizon) won his first of the season after 34 attempts. The sophomore gelding circled the field from 15 lengths back for owner/trainer/driver Chris Brown, reaching up in the final strides to win by a nose in 1:58.2. The gelding, whom Brown acquired in June, has two career wins in 49 tries and has earned $33,995.

Century Downs will host its next card on Saturday, Oct. 26, featuring Shark Week in a $25,000 Preferred. First post is set for 7:30 p.m. MDT.
