Harness racing hits Ashburton again today with twelve races on the card. The racing starts at 12:00pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good day of racing.

Race 1

Buddha (2) Stand still an issue but improving and good second last start. Top selection here
Always On Sale (10) Ignore last start and previous form was good. Could surprise at odds
Bautista (4) Conditions suit and fought on well last start. Big chance with a good run in transit

Race 2

Miles Away (10) Running on last start and will be improved. Has trialed well on the track. Include
Regal Sierra (1) In form and has the speed to be one of the better chances from the draw. Needed
Baffled (5) Improver from her last start and drawn to play a part. Driver change and has claims

Race 3

Got The Chocolates (1) Upgrade in draws and likely leader. Hard to beat from the draw in this
Confederate (10) Stable respect and follows out the favourite. Good top three chance. Needed.
Demon Blue (5) Drawn to get a handy trip. Good enough to threaten the favourite with luck

Race 4

Classic Elegance (3) Has been racing well in similar fields. Has gate speed and winning claims
Flying Ellie (2) Another gate flier who is under rated. Could surprise here if she can find the front
Ultimate Racy Girl (1) Has a draw for a soft pegs position in the run. Should go close from the ace

Race 5

Captains Mistress (3) Very speedy and big track will suit here. Southerners do well on the track
Youretheonethatiwant (14) Has raced well against similar fields. Tricky draw but should give a sight
General Jen (4) Stable respect and not far away last start. Look for a decent run in this field at odds

Race 6

Cyclone Zion W (13) Tidy last start and has a big motor. Can win but will need his best behaviour
Sunny Louis (5) Has great course stats and top driver booked. Top three claims from the draw
Markthewarrior (16) Ugly draw but has the speed to be a player with no mistakes in the running

Race 7

Jeremiah (7) Tricky draw but has oodles of speed. Can do some work and stick on here. Top selection
Better Knuckle Up (9) Very tough and has been racing strong fields from bad draws. Win chance
Renegade (8) In winning form but his hardest test to date. Short trip will be in his favour. Needed

Race 8

Father Time (9) Can run time and getting better with racing. Good chance early even from the draw.
Empire City (12) Uncharacteristic break last start Races well on the track and look for big improvement
Bring On The Muscle (13) Draw hurts but no doubting the ability. Can give some cheek if he gets handy

Race 9

Merlin (8) Very speedy and has beaten most of these in the past. Top rated horse who should go close
The Big Lebowski (11) Decent motor and stand only issue. Underrated pacer with claims at longer odds
Don’t Stop Dreaming (3) Good third last start. Will continue to improve and win chance with a good trip

Race 10

Bet N Win (1) Very quick and drawn to be handy all the way. Hard to run down from the draw. Needed
Oscar Bonavena  (6) Better draw and faster than most in this field. Should give a good account here
Midnight Dash (4) Out of form but at his best could go close in this Could surprise and one for odds

Race 11

Mantra Blue (10) Top win last start and improvement expected. Should run top three in this field
Princess Meritaten (7) Good form and went close last start. On form has to be respected. Include
Advance Party (6) Has been good in the south but harder here. Upset claims with a good trip

Race 12

Radioactive Jaffa (2) Has been racing well and conditions suit. Top selection in this from the draw
Beaudiene Quick Step (11) Better than the form suggests. Will need luck but has claims at odds
Szybka Lane (10) Having a good run of form and track stats good. Not the worst at longer odds
