Scattolini secures upset in NAADA

MONTICELLO, N.Y.— With the two harness racing favorites breaking stride early and pulling up from the race, Dante Scattolini took the helm and lasted at odds of 14-1 to win the $7,500 North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Nov. 6).

Starting from the pylon post, Scattolini pushed through the inside with Campbellini (Cantab Hall) as Mufasa As (driven by McKenzie Sowers) and 1-5 favorite Secret Bro (Andrew Adamczyk) barreled forward from the outside. Secret Bro bore inside in the hustle for the lead, got rough gaited and then broke stride swinging around the turn, hooking wheels with Mufasa As in the process and backing out of the race.

Campbellini inherited the point and controlled proceedings through a steady tempo of :30, 1:00.3 and 1:30.1. He lasted in the lane when pocket-sitter Winneress (Anthony Verruso) sprung from the pocket, rebuffing the challenge by a half length to record a 2:01.2 win.

Bangin In The Hall (Robert Krivelin) finished third, another two lengths back, and Raceace (Alan Schwartz) took fourth.
