“It wasn’t the plan to go forward like that but he was pretty keen off the gait,” trainer driver Nathan Williamson said after Always Dreaming (Bettor’s Delight) won the Gareth Paul Building Mobile Pace at the Winton Harness Racing Club meeting today.
The well bred colt lead until the 1200 metre mark before handing up to Wild East. Once the passing lane presented itself Always B Dreaming sprinted up the inside and won easily by two and a quarter lengths from Drummershavtime, with a head away to Wild East. Always Dreaming ran the 1609 in 1-57.6 with the last 800 metres cut out in 57.1.
ALWAYS DREAMING REPLAY
Williamson says if the horse comes through today’s race well, the plan would be to head to the $100,000 Ace Of Spade at Addington in twelve days time.
The win was Always Dreaming’s third in just eight starts. He last raced at Addington in May.
“He’s probably pretty much the same as he was last time in. Physically he probably hasn’t done as well as you would have hoped, although he’s still quite an impressive looking horse. This time he didn’t winter as well but he has built up again through the spring. I think we might see a better version of him after Christmas when he matures a bit more.”
Owned by the Nine Three Syndicate, Chris Alcock and Nude Again Syndicate, Always Dreaming currently sits in fourth spot for the Ace Of Spades with plenty of talent in the mix.
“Marketplace is clearly the best and then there’s Rubira, Got The Chocolates and Demon Blue in the next line and we’re probably in the next line. He needs to improve a length or two to be up with them.”
Always Dreaming was one of three winners on the day to carry the word ‘Always’ in their name. The others were Always B Elvis and Always B There.
