Aged harness racing stallion Sportsline (Sportswriter) reached $300,000 in career earnings with a dominant performance in the co-featured pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday (Nov. 26).
The stallion led all the way, rated to :28.4, :58.1, and 1:26.4 fractions by Tyler Borth. No horse was able to mount a serious challenge, and Sportsline put the pedal down on the far turn, creating a sizable gap to pocket-sitter Hollys Treasure (Colin Kelly). He sailed to victory from there, crossing the line with a four-and-a-half-length margin in 1:55.2. Hollys Treasure finished second with Taylors Credit (Natasha Day) rallying for show.
SPORTSLINE REPLAY
Sportsline improved his lifetime record to 33-for-101 with the victory. The eight-year-old has won eight times this year, including the Bud and Ethel Fritz Memorial. Patrick Bissett conditions the stallion for Craig Parrott of Windsor.
Bissettās evening was bolstered by a one-two finish in the eighth. Larjon Lightspeed (Lorne House) and Anchor So Reel (So Surreal, Travis Henry) charged two- and three-wide respectively on the backstretch and battled around the final turn, with Anchor So Reel drawing clear to win by two-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:59.4. Bissett owns both mares.
Racing will resume at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Friday, Nov. 29 at 5:50 p.m. EST.
