Winton harness racing trainers John and Katrina Price have made the decision to retire Advance Party (Bettor’s Delight) and she is to be mated with Captaintreacherous.
At her last start at Wyndham in November she ran second to Life Of Art in a New Zealand record time of 2-51.5 for the 2400 metre mobile. Advance Party’s time in that race was 2-52.1 which, if she’d won, would have been a New Zealand record lowering Mabalene’s time of 2-53.5.
“She fibrillated in training five days after that run so we decided to retire her,” John said.
In thirty two starts Advance Party won six races and was placed a further sixteen times, earning her connections $122,288.
She goes to stud with a best mile time of 1-53.9, recorded in Auckland when she won her first start as a two year old.
Although she didn’t succeed in winning a Group or Listed race during her career, she ran third in the Group One Nevele R Fillies Series Final, second in the Group Two Caduceus Club/Ladyship Stakes and third in the Group One Caduceus Club Two Year Old Fillies Classic. All three races were won by champion filly Millwood Nike.
