Down Under Winners from North America – 17th December

Typhoon Banner, an eight-year-old Bettor’s Delight gelding bred in New Zealand, led in an ANZAC quinella with My Ultimate Byron second in a $50,000 division of the MGM Grand Prix Pacing Series at Yonkers Raceway on Monday night (December 9). He rated 1:55.6 for 1-1/16 miles and increased his lifetime harness racing earnings to $341,735.

Typhoon Banner will be one of the leading fancies for the $250,000 Grand Prix Series Final at Yonkers on Monday (December 16). 

The He’s Watching mare A Little Side Hustle NZ notched her fifth Fillies and Mares’ Open success at Saratoga Raceway this season and boosted her year’s stake tally to just shy of $100,000 when she won the $15,000 feature on Monday. The six-year-old went coast-to-coast in 1:55.6. 

Madrid, a six-year-old mare by Bling It On, took full advantage of a perfect trip to win the $13,000 feature by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:51.4 at The Meadowlands on Friday night (December 13). It was her 21st win and raised her bankroll to $328,327. 

Meanwhile, the Somebeachsomewhere gelding Spring In His Step hoisted a fresh lifetime mark of 1:48.8 winning the $40,000 Preferred Handicap at The Meadowlands on Saturday night (December 15). The seven-year-old, who enjoyed a pocket trip, unleashed a brilliant late rally to score for the 21st time by three-quarters of a length.
