The inaugural North American Standardbred Mixed Sale was held on Tuesday, Dec. 17 with Breeders Crown three-year-old trotting filly champion Allegiant (Tactical Landing-Too Good For You) a standout in the harness racing sales ring at the Mount Hope Event Center in Mount Hope, Ohio.
Allegiant, selling as Hip 225, was the sale topper with a final bid of $925,000. The filly was purchased by Sweden’s Eagle Riding AB. A multiple stakes winner with a lifetime mark of 1:51.1f, Allegiant earned 11 victories from 27 starts and $1,356,448 in purses while trained by Vernon Beachy and Linda Toscano for former owner Ryan Smith of Dennison, Ohio. She was consigned by agent Crystal Springs Stables.
Among the top sellers, three-year-old trotting filly Vivacity (Muscle Hill), Hip 273, was purchased for $200,000 by Joe Miller of Orrville, Ohio. Consigned by agent Dublin Valley Farms, the filly out of multiple New York stakes winner Quincy Blue Chip filly was a two-time winner in her first season of racing this year for trainer Julie Miller and owner Jaypaul Hoover of Ephrata, Pennsylvania.
Absolutely Hanover (Bar Hopping), Hip 227, rounded out the top three highest priced horses, selling for $70,000 to Midwind Farms of Middlefield, Ohio. Another three-year-old trotting filly, she was consigned by Weaver Standardbred Farm, acting as agent for the ownership group of Burke Racing Stable, Jim Simpson, Lawrence Karr and Jandt Silva – Purnel And Libby. A winner of two races, the filly is out of Are You Ready and is a full sibling to Pennsylvania Sire Stakes champion Manon.
A total of 265 racehorses, weanlings, broodmares, stallions and stallion shares were sold, with the average price at $15,604.
