In High Cotton (Somebeachsomewhere) went back-to-back in the Fillies and Mares Preferred at Fraser Downs as she won the Thursday (Dec. 19) harness racing feature.
Kelly Hoerdt sat the mare third throughout the first half as Outlaw Spiced Rum (Rod Therres) cut the quarter in :28.2 and Ima Beach Diva (Allan Molloy) took over before the half in :56.2.
In High Cotton was flushed out by Grey Sea (John Abbott) but caught cover as Outlaw Spiced Rum pulled the pocket approaching three-quarters in 1:25. In High Cotton shifted out for the drive at the top of the lane and went to work on Outlaw Spiced Rum, rolling by that drifting rival in deep-stretch. Grey Sea also came with a rush, but In High Cotton was home in time to score by a half-length in 1:55.
Grey Sea finished second, a length ahead of Outlaw Spiced Rum.
