Joumba de Guez wins 700,000€ Prix de Cornulier

A huge Paris-Vincennes crowd was on site to watch, listen, wager on the 2025 Prix de Cornulier (Gr. I International monte, purse 700,000€, 2700 meters, 18 starters ages 4-11) with harness racing victory to 2.8/1 odds Joumba de Guez (6f Carat Williams-Quoumba de  Guez).

Timed in 1.12.3kr the Nicolas Bazire trainee is owned and bred by Ecurie Vautors (Rene Guezille) and was expertly handled by jockey Eric Raffin. She recorded her 10th career victory in 33 starts now for 742,960€ earned.

She raced on the lead after passing Granvillaise Bleu early and then holding off 8.6/1 Ina du Rib (7f  Uhlan de Val-Tina de Rib) with J.L.CL. Dersoir aboard for Ecurie Rib and trainer Joel Hallais.

49/1 Jewel Candle Fac  (6f Prodigious) was placed third when Jasmin de Vau was a late dq. Damien Bonne rode and  trains this one for Sebastien Guarato.

Placed fourth was veteran 16/1 odds Granvillaise Bleu (9f Jag de Bellouet) with Alexandre Abrivard aboard the Pierre Levesque trainee for owner Michel Gallier. The 3.3/1 odds Gazelle de Val (9g Viking de Val) was fifth for jockey Mathieu Mottier followed by 24/1 Jean Balthazar (6m Alto de Viette) and 5/1 Ideale du Chene.

On the undercard 1.5/1 Jabalpur (6m Booster Winner-Sliems) took the Prix Michel Marcel  Gougeon (Gr.  III, purse 90,000€, 2700 meters,10 starters age eight) timed in 1.13.6kr with Gabriele Gelormini at the lines for Alain Chavatte training for Tramonton Srl.

The winner recorded his ninth victory in 37 starts now for 314,090€.   The 8.4/1 Jingle du Pont (6g Niky) was second with trainer Nicolas Bazire driving and 6.9/1 Joconde Sibey (6f Timoko) was third for Eric Raffin. Just A Midi at 35/1 and 18/1 Jason Ginyu  followed the top three.

Another undercard event today was Prix de Mirande (Gr. III, purse 90,000€, 2700 meters, nine European starters age five) where 32/1 Ernesto Roc (5m Face Time
Bourbon-United Roc-Filipp Roc) scored in 1.12.8kr for Benjamin Rochard. This Italian bred trotteur is trained by H.E. Mondo for SS Eusebia Snc and now has two wins in France and career earnings of 154,958€. The 9/1 Kaviarissime (5m Love You– Elegantissime-Ready Cash) was second driven by trainer Mathieu Mottier for Ch Bridault.

Frederic Sauque bred this one that is a full brother to Lovissime that won yesterday and has five wins for 219,550€ earned. The 2/1 odds favorite today, Edgar Saba (5g Exploit Caf-Saba del Ronco) landed third trained by Bondo to Vaporino Srl and reined by Gabriele Gelormini. The 18/1 Jazzman (5m Niky) and 3.5/1 Kamehameha (5m Uniclove) completed the top five.
