Prix Une de Mai held at sloppy Cagnes-sur-Mer

Happy Danica (8f Briac Darc-Rive Bleue) captured today’s Cagnes sur Mer featured Prix Une de Mai (purse 49,000€, 2925 meters, 15 starters ages 8-11) timed in 1.12.2kr over the sloppy course.

Alexis Gardardeau teamed and also trains the 6.4/1 odds winner for Cecile Douillet the owner. Happy Danica now sports 18 career wins in 61 starts for 440,135€ earned.

The 54/1 Gala de Crennes (9g Opus Viervil) was second handled by Francois Lagadeuc for trainer Pierre Repichet and owner Ecurie Haras de Crennes. Honky Tonk Blues (8g Magnificent Rodney) was third at 9/1 odds for trainer/driver Nicolas Ensch and Ecurie Bresil. The fourth and fifth finishers were 21/1 Great Of Madrik (9m Jag de Bellouet) and 1.1/1 odds favorite Hede Darling (8m Password) these handled by Christophe Martens and Nicolas Bazire respectively.

Yesterday the Paris-Vincennes action showcased the Prix de Pontarlier (purse 46,000€, 2850 meters, 11 European six year old female starters) with victory earned by 9/10 odds favorite Defne di Poggio (6f Nuncio-Zagara di Poggio)  driven by Jean Michel Bazire for Scuderia Mistero Srl and trainer Nicolas  Bazire.

This winner has two wins in France from three starts and shows career earnings of 40,887€. Race time was 1.14.0kr. Jade Renardier (6f  Ecu Pierji)  was second  for  Anthony Barrier and trainer S.G. Dupont. The 2.2/1 Diva Starlight (6f Varenne) was third for trainer/driver Alessandro Gocciadoro.

On the same card was the Prix du Brossac (purse 35,000€, 2700 meters, 12 five year old starters) with 7/10 odds favorite King Steed (5m Orlando Vici-Premiere Steed-Workaholic) the 1.15.4kr timed  winner. Yoann Lebourgeois reined the Alain Chavatte trainee for AB Trot. This was King Steed’s second career win for 47,685€ earned. His dam Premiere Steed was a great mare with a record of 1.10.0kr and 1,197,393€ earned from 16 victories in 69 career starts.

Second today was 4/1 Keops des Haubois (5g Boccador de Simm)with Anthony Dollion the driver/trainer/owner. Kador d’Ourville (5g Rolling d’Herpre) was third at 8.4/1 odds driven by Anthony Barrier for trainer C.A. Mary.

Ahead on Sunday is the 2025 edition of the Prix d’Amerique (1,000,000€, 2700 meters voltstart, 18 starters) and Idao de Tillard, Go On Boy, San Moteur are likely favorites along with former winner Hooker Berry. Before the final draw on Thursday there are 19 currently engaged with Hohneck withdrawn. See below for the prelim  Prix d’Amerique lineup for this 1,000,000€ purse classic.   • Prix Camille Blaisot (Gr. II, purse 120,000€, 2175 meters, five year olds)
  • Prix Jacques Andreau (Gr. II, purse120,000€, 2850 meters  for 5-11 year olds)
  • Prix d’Amerique (Gr. I International, purse1,000,000€, 2700 meters, ages 5-11)
  • Prix Helen Johansson (Gr. III International, purse 90,000€, 2100 meters autostart, ages 6-8)
  • Prix Jean Rene Gougeon (Gr. III European, purse 90,000€, 2100 meters autostart, ages 6-8)

Also on tap this week is the Arqana Trot Prix d’Amerique Sale that begins today at Deauville and continues Friday evening at Vincennes. There are also online offerings tomorrow Thursday of top flight breeding stock of appeal to International audiences.
