A host of interesting trotting races took place this day at Paris-Vincennes starting with the
Prix de la Chartre Sur Le Loir (purse 60,000€, 2700 meters, 13 starters for 6-7 year olds) where Eric Raffin piloted 2.1/1 odds Jalendra de Malac (6f Singalo-Papeete-Baccarat du Pont) to victory timed in 1.13.0kr. This A.P. Grimault owned and trained mare won for the eighth time in 43 career starts now for 194,000€ earned. She has won five straight.

Journee Revee (6f Prodigious) rallied for second with Paul Philippe Ploquin aboard the Jean Philippe Dubois trainee that he bred and owns through Ecurie Victoria Dreams. Home third was 29/1 Jewel de Banville (6g Magnificent Rodney) with Arnaud Albert Chavatte at the line.Jalendra de Malac

In the Prix des Rouges Terres (purse 52,000€, 2700 meters, 10 European starters age four females) the 1.15.5kr timed winner was 13/1 odds Luna Park (4f Doberman-Altesse des Elfes) with trainer Andea Roussel aboard for owner/breeder Nicole Roussel. This was her second career victory and it advanced her earnings to 62,940€.
She defeated 17/1 Lissandra Jiel (4f Alto de Viette) with Mathieu Mottier driving for J.L. Dersoir and Ecurie Luck. Fast Equos Jet (4f Readly Express-Orchiata Jet-Pine Chip) held third at 8/1 odds with David Thomain aboard for owner Jean Pierre Barjon and trainer Holger K. Ehlert.

In the Prix de Monsegur (purse 59,000€, 2100 meters autostart, 10 European starters ages 7-10) the 1.7/1 odds favorite Haute Cote de Nuit (8f Prince d’Espace-Talejade Royale) scored by open lengths despite wandering wide throughout the lane. She was clocked in a quick 1.11.3kr with Jean Michel Bazire teaming the Enzo Lelievre owned and trained mare. This one now has 11 career wins in 55 appearances for 219,190€.
Illusion d’Amour (7f Goetmals Wood) took second money at 4.3/1 odds with Eric Raffin driving for trainer Guillaume Jouve. Third to the line was 2.3/1 Is Magic Haufor (7f Prodigious) that David Thomain reined for breeder/owner/trainer Christian Bigeon.

In other International news this week was the 75th birthday of legendary German trainer/driver Heinz Wewering. Wewering is third in career wins worldwide with over 16,700 and he was inducted in the German Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 2010. He was the leading dash winner driver in Europe four times and the leading driver in German from 1977 through 2005 when he was also leading trainer during most of those years.
During that period Wewering posted 14,688 drivng wins and 17,257 training victories. He won all the major races in Germany (the Deutches Traber-Derby six times) and International races in Italy, France and Sweden such as the Orsi Mangelli, Prix d’Ete, Ctriterium Continental, Orsi Mangelli Filly, Prix de Washington and Jubileumslopp.
