Up and coming mare Rylee Rhayne Bow (Art Major) showed that she is a force to be reckoned with when she returned a dashing harness racing performance to take out the Garrards Horse and Hounds Mares Open Pace at Albion Park last night.
On her strength of her previous good form punters sent out Rylee Rhayne Bow a short priced favourite but there was support for Chynchillla who was resuming after four months off the race track.
Pete McMullen found the lead on Rylee Rhayne Bow after Sweet Apollo had gone to the front early. Chynchilla was deep early and from being three wide eventually went to race outside Rylee Rhayne Bow.

But McMullen kept the tempo going and running 27.1 seconds for the third quarter she broke up the field. Chynchilla appeared to lose ground at that point and it appeared she might finish out of a place.
However to her credit Chynchilla continued to give something and she chased home Rylee Rhayne Bow down the straight although the latter had plenty to spare with a nine metre win. Undoubtedly her race fitness won the day but her overall mile rate of 1.51.1 was enough to show that she is a mare of above average ability.
Chynchilla will be improved by the hit out and she the former Victorian mare who has created a good impression since her arrival in Queensland will take beating in future events.
Winning driver Pete McMullen when asked as to whether Rylee Rhayne Bow was the best mare in the State he stated
“I think she has to be considered definitely.”
“She is a dual Group 1 winner, she has won more stakes than any other mare in Queensland currently racing and she is versatile.”
“Reverse the barriers tonight with Chynchilla and maybe it’s a different result.”
There are plenty of options now for Rylee Rhayne Bow starting with the Ladyship Mile at Menangle in early May but back home there are races such as the Rising Sun in July and the Triad in August that could well keep her chasing the local classics.
