Boom trotter Bet N Win (What The Hill) is now officially in the harness racing field for the $650,000 TAB Trot as part of Cambridge’s Night of Champions on Friday, April 4.

The What The Hill five-year-old was always expected to line up in the big race but his place was only confirmed by connections last night. He will run in the slot owned by the Breckon Racing Syndicate, brothers George and Andrew Breckon, Richard Cole and the Odds On Syndicate.

The winner of 11 from 19, Bet N Win was bred by Breckon Farms, with the Breckon Racing Syndicate part of the horse’s  large ownership group.

He is a $2.70 favourite on the futures market on the TAB, following his narrow but very impressive win over Muscle Mountain in last Friday’s Group 1 Fred Shaw Memorial New Zealand Trotting Championships at Addington.

Bet N Win is the fourth trotter to secure a spot in the TAB Trot, along with Queen Elida ($21), Muscle Mountain ($7.50) and Australian visitor The Locomotive ($3.30).

Another Australian Keayang Chucky, who’s won 20 from 52 starts, is expected to make the trip over as well. He’s currently a $3 second favourite with the TAB. He is raced by the Lees of Keayang Zahara fame. Earlier this month the chestnut gelding beat Oscar Bonavena, The Locomotive and co in the Group 1 Hammerhead Mile at Menangle Park in Sydney in 1:51.9.

So far six of the 10 pacers have been confirmed for the $1m The Race by betcha. They are Duchess Megxit, Pinseeker, Merlin, Republican Party, Rakero Rocket and recent Miracle Mile winner Don Hugo.

Australian visitors dominate the market with Leap To Fame ($2.20), Don Hugo ($3.20) and dual New Zealand Cup winner Swayzee ($4.20). The most favoured Kiwi is Merlin at $8.50.
