Stewart’s unbeaten filly chases feature success

ACE Victorian trainer Emma Stewart heads back to Menangle on Saturday night chasing another feature win with up and coming pacer Luv The Highlife (Poster Boy).

She’s unbeaten from two starts and related to a modern day champion, so it’s only a matter of time before Luv The Nitelife is compared to her famous half-sister.

Making her debut in Geelong on March 21, Luv The Nitelife stopped the clock in 1:56.1 when scoring untouched by 11-and-a-half metres.

The three-year-old then backed-up with a five-metre victory in 1:59.8 over 2080 metres in Cranbourne last week.

Pleased with the filly’s progress, trainer Emma Stewart is confident Luv The Nitelife can reach grand heights, but wouldn’t be drawn into a comparison with former stable star, Ladies In Red.

Triumphant during her first nine starts, Ladies In Red was retired with an outstanding record of 28 wins and seven seconds from 37 outings for earnings of $1,096,480.

Ladies In Red’s victories included seven Group Ones and three Group Twos.

“We’ve got a fair opinion of Luv The Nitelife and she has looked good in her two starts . . . but it’s only been two starts,” Stewart said.

“She’s got what we hope is a long career ahead of her, so there is no point in making calls now.

“Ladies In Red was something special and time will tell if Luv The Nitelife can get anywhere near her.

“We hope she does, but at this stage, a comparison is not something I’ll be drawn into.”

Luv The Nitelife will attempt to join Ladies In Red as a feature winner when she contests the Golden Easter Egg – Race 5 at Menangle.

To be driven by Luke McCarthy, the daughter of Poster Boy has drawn barrier four over 2300 metres.

“This will be a good early test for her,” Stewart said.

“There are some nice fillies in the field, including Gunna Reload, which won the Gold Bracelet in Bathurst at her last start.

“We’re happy with the draw and expect another big run from her.”
