Wisper A Secret blitzes his rivals in breaking 1:50

Wisper A Secret (Huntsville) issued a devastating statement when he easily outpointed his harness racing rivals In the Wolf Signs Open Pace at Albion Park on Saturday night.

Wisper A Secret

It was a welcome return to form for Wisper A Secret. The five year old gelding proved his worth last year when he defeated Don Hugo in the Group 1 Rising Sun at Albion Park and then finished a credible fourth in the TAB Eureka at Menangle after being the early leader.

The race was robbed of some interest with the late scratching of the highly fancied Jimartee.

Wisper A Secret was the only runner on the second row but driver Pete McMullen was able to follow the speedy Catseye Beach who as expected had no trouble holding the early lead.

Braedos Lad sat racing outside the leader with Deus Ex right behind with the one out and one back trail. However he had trouble holding his position along the back straight and McMullen simply angled Wisper A Secret right behind poised for the final strike.

Once let go Wisper A Secret charged clear and he came away to win by eleven metres from Braedos Lad with Classic Washington in third. Thanks to the fast pace set by Catseye Beach Wisper A Secret ran the mile in 1.49.7 with his last two quarters in 26.8 and 27.1 seconds.

Whilst no one is suggesting that Wisper A Secret is in the same class as fellow Queenslander Leap To Fame he will make a worthy second string for the forthcoming Inter Dominion if trainer Chantal Turpin elects to run in the coveted series this July.

The other pacing highlight of the night was the return of the well travelled Targaryen (Big Jim) who having enjoyed a perfect trail behind the leader sprinted clear in the home straight to win the Racing and Sports Band 5 Pace. The eight year old is an evergreen performer for his trainer Jack Butler and still has plenty of life left in him yet.
