Consistent gelding Kingmaker (Mach Three) followed up his harness racing win at Menangle a week ago when he backed up at Headquarters to take out the Listed JD Watts Free for All At Menangle Park on Saturday night.

Perfectly driven by trainer Luke McCarthy Kingmaker was able to take a trail one out and one back.
KINGMAKER MAY 31 REPLAY
I’m The Falcon showed sizzling speed early to take up the running and the grand veteran Max Delight who was backed into favourite was forced to race outside the leader. The pace was on from the start which made Max Delight’s task over the short journey difficult.
Even when Max Delight was left in front on turning he was a sitting shot for those behind him.
McCarthy timed his run down the home straight and he always seemed to have the measure of Max Delight. However Nyack who is renowned for a powerful sprint was let go by driver James Rattray and although he was finishing quickly he found the task of gathering the field in beyond him on the night and he had to settle for second behind Kingmaker.
Max Delight lost no friends in running a gallant third and the mile rate was a slick 1.50.2.

Kingmaker is not entered for the Inter Dominion but Nyack and Max Delight are Brisbane bound and they will both be in contention during the series.
It was a successful night for McCarthy as in the next event he guided promising pacer Tomahawk Bart (Sweet Lou) to an impressive win in the Cordina Group Pace. Tomahawk Bart was looking for a run on the final bend as he was smothered away but once clear he sprouted wings to narrowly defeat Force Full and Rakodeaks.
