Switzer, Jr wins three consecutive races

Bangor, Maine …. In demand harness racing drivers can often benefit from being listed to drive on multiple horses when the overnight sheets are published, a happenstance that can sometimes gain that driver an advantage when choosing which horse he’ll eventually pilot. And with such choices to be made, success can often be almost predetermined before the official program is sent to press.

Such was the case for Kevin Switzer, Jr at Bangor Raceway on Wednesday (June 4), when with choices to be made in three consecutive races, Switzer divined three consecutive winners through careful consideration.

KP’S MAGIC MACY REPLAY

First came Jet Wills (1:57.2-$6.20), who soared gate-to-wire through a :56.3 back-half after taxiing up to Bangor off back-to-back landings at Plainridge Racecourse; then came KP’s Magic Macy (1:56.4-$3.40), who won her third consecutive contest for trainer Kandace Niles; and finally The Shining (1:58-$13.60), who powered his way to his second seasonal score, firing a bold first-over salvo up the backstretch to secure the win.

Switzer’s three-bagger elevated him into second place on the Bangor Raceway leaderboard. Hopscotching over Nick Graffam and Drew Campbell who were absent from competition on Wednesday, Switzer’s 13 seasonal wins trail McGwire Sowers by just one in the local standings.

In other Bangor news, the recent track-bias toward front-end speed appeared to begin to even itself out on Wednesday with four of the ten races programmed producing wins that came from off-the-pace. Despite this recent and slight turn of trend, 31 of the last 37 winners over the last four programs at Bangor have come in gate-to-wire fashion.

Bangor Raceway will showcase live harness racing throughout the mid-summer season, featuring sessions on Wednesday afternoons with a 3:00 pm post time, and the popular Sunday matinees going to post at 12:10 pm.
