The world champion Warrawee Needy, who stands at Yirribee Stud, Wagga (NSW), sired winners in three different states and two countries in June.

The haul was highlighted by the talented four-year-old Our Goat, who scored back-to-back successes at Bathurst in 1:53.5 and at the Redcliffe Cup meeting in 1:54.5.

A pair of Warrawee Needy three-year-olds in Withdistinction and Shes A Warrawee tore up the tracks last month. The former won at Menangle in 1:55.3 and Bathurst (1:56), while the latter scored at Wagga in 1:56.3 to make it five wins from 10 starts.

Other recent Australian winners by Warrawee Neddy have been Flare Up, who won at Newcastle in 1:53.9 and 1:56.2, Proletaire (1:57, Newcastle), Fly The Banner (1:58, Globe Derby Park), Rockindownunder (Tamworth) and Weneeddreams  (Canberra).

In Canada, Warrawee Needy was represented by the ex-pat Aussie Uncle Shank, a winner in 1:50 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and Elroy Shiner, who scored in 1:55.8 and 1:56.

Warrawee Needy has an almost 70 percent strike rate of winners-to-starters in Australia and average earnings of $28,000 per starter.

Cattlewash, whose frozen semen is available in Australia from Yirribee Stud, is enjoying a banner year with his stock in North America. He is clearly the leading sire of three-year-olds on average earnings per foal and is fourth on the two-year-old sires’ stakemoney list.

The winners of the first two Grand Circuit events for two-year-olds held in America this year – the Tompkins-Geers Stakes – were both taken out by progeny of Cattlewash.

Tilthecowscomehome broke his maiden status with a fast finishing 1:52.8 score in the $64,000 colts and geldings’ division at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The $70,000 yearling purchase is from an Artsplace dam.

Meanwhile, Th Check Me Out won the $56,000 fillies’ division in 1:52.6. The Cattlewash daughter, who is now two-for-two, is out of a Sportswriter mare.
